Winceby House School for Girls – Graham Britnell Green
Return to Books For Sale page

Winceby House School was founded in 1915 by two sisters, Miss Angela Wilson and Miss Winifred Wilson, known to all as ‘Madam’. From small beginnings, the school grew through the middle years of the twentieth century, to become a thriving girls’ boarding school in Bexhill.
Graham Britnell Green draws on school magazines and recollections of old girls to illustrate the story. Winceby, however, was not to survive advancements in education and in 1966 it closed. This very special school represents the kind of school that has gone for ever, though it remains a unique piece of social and education history.
